frequently asked questions
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? WHERE ARE SESSIONS HELD?
I am located in Lincolnshire but work exclusively online, or by telephone, with people from across the UK.
I work from a private counselling room: a lovely, calm space, which offers a quiet and confidential environment for our sessions.
HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?
Sessions are 1 hour in length and are £40 each (online via Zoom or by telephone).
Payment, via bank transfer, is requested prior to each session, in order to secure your appointment.
CAN I BOOK FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS?
Not with me, I’m afraid. I specialise in online and telephone counselling. I’m happy to discuss any reservations you might have about online counselling and you can read more about some of the benefits here.
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
If you are ready to book an appointment, I can be contacted in the following ways:
~ Using the contact form on my contact page
~ By phone, WhatsApp or text: 07928 431657
~ By email: firstname.lastname@example.org
If I do not answer your call, I may be in a counselling session or you might have called outside of my working hours. In either case, my phone will go to voicemail to allow you to leave a message. I will return your call as soon as I am able.
The number you dial is used solely for counselling purposes and will not be answered by anyone other than me.
I HAVE NEVER HAD ONLINE COUNSELLING, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
I use the Zoom platform to facilitate online sessions. A link is emailed to you before each session that allows you to access our private meeting room. You can choose whether we work with our cameras on or off, according to what feels comfortable for you.
One of the things people really enjoy about online counselling is that they access it from their own, familiar space, which can be very reassuring. Added benefits are no time or cost spent travelling to and from appointments and no adverse weather to contend with. You can read more here about some of the benefits of online counselling.
IS COUNSELLING CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes. During our sessions you will probably share some very personal and sensitive information. It is important that you feel safe in the knowledge that your privacy will be respected.
Everything we discuss in our sessions together is confidential, with the following exclusions:
- In the case of a possible safeguarding issue, for example, if there might be a risk of danger or serious harm to you or to another person. Or if you give me information regarding criminal activity, such as acts of terrorism or money laundering. In these instances I will always aim to discuss my concerns with you before speaking with any other relevant parties.
2. For support and guidance in my work, and to ensure I continue working ethically and competently, I am required to have monthly clinical supervision. When I review client work with my supervisor, no names are used and any distinguishing details are altered to preserve anonymity.
CAN I BOOK AN EVENING APPOINTMENT?
I know it can be tricky to fit sessions in if you work full time or have daytime commitments, so I do offer some evening and weekend appointments.
These slots are popular, so please drop me a message to check my current evening/weekend availability.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
It really depends on what you are bringing to counselling. Some people find 6-12 sessions are enough, whilst others opt for longer-term or open-ended counselling, which can offer the opportunity for more in-depth work.
I can work short, long-term or open-ended, so can accommodate you, based on your own needs and preferences.
My suggestion is that we begin with 6 sessions and then regularly review our work. You are in control of the number of sessions and you are free to end counselling at any time.
